Our youth river skills class is perfect for kids who want to get on the water in all types of crafts, and get an introduction to whitewater skills! This class will cover the basics of reading water, river hydrology, river safety, whitewater swimming and more.

The first day start with getting to know the kids and the instructors. We will have time to discuss any other river experiences the kids have had, and what they want to accomplish during the week! From there we will give out gear, and learn how to care for it. After this we will use our onsite pool to begin to learn some basic skills like wet exits or strokes. From there we will head to a flat section of the Animas or the lake to play games and get more comfortable in our boats!

The rest of the week will follow the same plan as the first day but we will be able to take out all kinds of different crafts on the water. The kids can choose between stand up paddleboards, inflatable kayaks or hardshell whitewater boats. This gives the kids the chance to experience all the different ways to enjoy time on the water! This class is 5 days and 4 hours daily. All the necessary gear, transportation and instructors are included.
